Alec Ramsey (Kelly Reno) is shipwrecked on an island where he and a black Arabian stallion are the sole survivors. Alec forms a bond with the horse, and, after being rescued, he convinces his mother (Teri Garr) to board the horse in their backyard. After Alec meets aging horse trainer Henry Dailey (Mickey Rooney), the two train the horse for a championship race–with Alec as the jockey.
