  Someone has stolen the Pink Panther diamond from the museum in Lugash, and bungling Inspector Clouseau (Peter Sellers) heads to Switzerland believing that, once again, Sir Charles Lytton (Christopher Plummer), a.k.a. the Phantom, and his wife Claudine (Catherine Schell) are the culprits. But, Lytton is not the one who stole the diamond and is, instead, trying to track down the real jewel thief while Claudine sends Clouseau on a wild-goose chase. Meanwhile, Clouseau's boss Chief Inspector Dreyfus (Herbert Lom) gets fed up with Clouseau's ineptness and plots to get rid of him once and for all.
