The result is half alien/half human Avatars, which can be controlled remotely. The scientific team, lead by Dr. Grace Augustine (Sigourney Weaver) and Norm Spellman (Joel Moore), finds that this gives more protection from the hostile Na'vi who are not pleased with the foreigners on their planet. A mega corporation on Earth is planning to mine the planet of a valuable ore that happens to rest directly below where the Na'vi tribe resides, and the tribe has been battling with the security arm of the corporation. Marine veteran, paraplegic Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) replaces his dead brother's Avatar "body," and, when he is separated from his team, Na'vi princess Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) rescues Jake. Jake lives among the Na'vi tribe, learns their ways, falls in love with Neytiri, and now questions which side he will support when the upcoming fight for the land ensues.
