A freak accident kills Roberta (and her unborn baby). Chance grieves at his friends' home, but when he finds out that Lauren had an abortion, and the baby may have been his, he loses it and begins to stalk Lauren, trying to wreck their marriage. Oft-told tale saved by good acting.

  In this remake of the 1955 film, Richard Chamberlain takes the role of the bogus preacher, Harry Powell, who is determined to get his hands on $50,000 that was stolen and hidden by his old prison cellmate. After murdering the cellmate and later being released from prison, Powell sets out to find the money. He befriends the widow (Diana Scarwid), kills her, and pursues her children (Amy Bebout an Reid Binion) through the woods believing that they, and only they, know where the money is hidden.
