But, Lucy commits suicide, and Judge Turpin spends the next 15 years raising Johanna (Jayne Wisener). Now, Benjamin escapes, returns to London–disguised as Sweeney Todd–and is determined to avenge himself and be reunited with Johanna. He opens a barber shop above Mrs. Lovett's (Helena Bonham Carter) sidewalk restaurant and begins an affair with her. But the real purpose in Sweeney Todd's life is his revenge as he slits the throats of his barber shop clients, and their bodies are ground into meat to provide the staple for Mrs. Lovett's irresistible meat pies.
