Special Agent 007 James Bond (David Niven) is enjoying retirement when he is coaxed back into the Secret Service after M is slain. Bond's mission is to smash the spy organization SMERSH, which is headed by the evil Le Chiffre (Orson Welles), and to accomplish that goal, agents converge on Casino Royale. Burt Bacharach provided the good musical score. The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song ("The Look of Love").

Good, taut, TV fare.

When Maj. Grau (Omar Sharif) investigates the 1942 murder of a Warsaw prostitute, the evidence points to three German Generals (Donald Pleasence, Charles Gray, and Peter O'Toole). The case remains unsolved, and Grau is taken off the case. Two years later, Grau is in Paris when another prostitute is killed. With help from Inspector Morand (Philippe Noiret), Grau obtains evidence that traps the General, but then Grau is killed. The case continues on until 1965 when Morand confronts the General with the evidence, and then the General kills himself.
