  Upon his release after a 14-year imprisonment for IRA activities, Danny Flynn (Daniel Day-Lewis) enters a changed community–including that of Protestant vs. Catholic AND his former love, Maggie (Emily Watson), who is now a married woman. Danny seeks to revive a local boxing club through which he works with both Catholic and Protestant youth while the town gossips about Danny and Maggie.

When Bull and his son (Sean Bean) decide to talk Peter out of competing for the land, the results are tragic. Harris received an Academy Award nomination.

This story is told through Christy as they come to America with hopes for a better life and then struggle to survive on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Samantha Morton was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar, and Djimon Hounsou was nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

Guiseppe dies while in prison, and during his 15 years of imprisonment Gerry, with help from British Attorney Gareth Peirce (Emma Thompson), tries to prove their innocence. Based on a true story. The film received seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Actor, Supporting Actor and Actress (Pete Postlethwaite and Emma Thompson), and Director.
