  Andy Hardy (Mickey Rooney), now a West-Coast lawyer and married to Jane (Patricia Breslin). He brings Jane and their children (Gina Gillespie and Teddy Rooney) this hometown of Carvel on business. He wants to arrange for an aircraft factory to be built in Carvel. But, Andy runs into trouble buying land and gets involved in local politics.

  Traveling salesmen Chester Primm (Lou Costello) and Duke Egan (Bud Abbott) arrive in the town of Western Gap where Chester accidentally kills a man and then learns that he is responsible for his victim's debts and family. So, he is saddled with Widow Hawkins (Marjorie Main) and her six children. Although Duke tries to find ways to free Chester from his debt to Widow Hawkins, she, in turn, tries to get Chester to propose to her. It turns out that Widow Hawkins owns the most valuable property in town, and by story's end, Chester and saloon owner Jake Frame (Gordon Jones) fight a gun duel.
