This documentary is fascinating for its insightful capture of a bygone era in rock history. Following Woodstock, 1970's The Isle of Wright festival was planned, and the result was a disaster from the viewpoint of fans–paying and gate crashers alike.

This documentary of the 1969 four-day-long rock concert won the Academy Award for Best Documentary. Featured performers are Joan Baez; Sly and the Family Sloan; Joe Crocker; Jefferson Airplane; and Crosby, Stills, and Nash. Martin Scorsese was an Assistant Director and editor of this film, which was rereleased in 1994 with about 40 minutes added. This is the one to see (at about 228 min.).
