Nine-year-old Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) wants a Red Ryder BB-gun for Christmas more than anything else, but he encounters all sorts of opposition to the idea, especially from his mother (Melinda Dillon). A warm, hilarious, nostalgic film, in particular for anyone who had grown up in the Midwest during the 1940's. Narrated by Jean Shepard who also wrote the novel on which it was based.
