| | well ahead of its time | keel 05/30/2012 | | Young actors still learning their skills but still well enough done to enjoy their work. Environmental flic from the '70's, made for under 1.3 million. That budget is apparent within the film but the skills the crew used in designing and building the sets and the spfx under that limitation are brilliant. This is a heartwarming but relevant film warning of the dangers of the exploitation of earth's resources. What makes this film work are the drones - Huey, Dewey and Louie, that lend an air of futuristic science to the movie yet give Bruce Dern a vehicle to play off and against. They are both amusing and yet emotional. I enjoy this movie every time I watch it. |
