Tom's new manager is a wheelchair-bound paraplegic, Chip (Jason Bateman), who just happens to be Sofia's high-school boyfriend. To make matters worse, Tom is sure that Chip is scheming to get Sofia back. In an effort to clear the air, Tom sets out to prove that Chip's disability is not for real, and many problems rise to the fore in the process.
