Twelve children are born the same night in a British village. Strangely, they seem to display no emotions, and all look alike. They are very bright and have telekinetic powers. Gordon Zellaby's (George Sanders) wife Anthea (Barbara Shelley) has given birth to one of the babies, and, a few years later, Gordon educates them but becomes skeptical when he finds that they make people do strange things. Finally, Gordon sets out to destroy the children but loses his own life in the process.
