Meanwhile, Black TV director Cameron Thayer (Terrence Howard) and his wife Christine (Thandie Newton) must deal with White racist cop Ryan (Matt Dillon) whose partner Tom Hansen (Ryan Phillipe) does not agree with his procedures. Another story involves detective Graham Waters (Don Cheadle) and his partner/lover Ria (Jennifer Esposito) investigating a case of a White cop who shot a Black cop.
