Among the new acquaintances are the DA, Sally the Porsche (voice of Bonnie Hunt), and Mater the Tow Truck (voice of Larry the Cable Guy), Lightning learns a thing or two about what is really important. If he is to survive, Noland must fend for himself to obtain food, fire, and water. Survive he does, and Tom Hanks excels in carrying the storyline by himself through more than half of the film. Tom Hanks was nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award.
