Adapted from H.G. Wells' 1895 novel, this version of "The Time Machine" is directed by Simon Wells, the great-grandson of the author. This time around, the time machine inventor, Alexander Hartdegen (Guy Pearce), is changed from an English scientist into an absent-minded, NYC professor who manages to reach the future in his quest to understand why he cannot change the past.
