Adapted from Horton Foote's play, this film is about life in a small Texas town. As part of a trilogy, this story involves Southerners adapting to the disasters of a flu epidemic and worries about World War I. This film and one of its prequels, "On Valentine's Day," were packaged for PBS' "American Playhouse" and titled "Story of a Marriage." The other prequel is "Convicts."
