Junon has been diagnosed with leukemia, and it is hoped that one of her children will prove to be an acceptable match for a bone marrow transplant for Junon that will extend her life. As the family gathers together, old wounds are reopened. Elizabeth, for unknown reasons, is especially hostile to Henri who had been banished from the family years ago. Will the results of their lab tests bring the family together, or will more chaos ensue?

Parisian art gallery owner Nora (Emmanuelle Devos) visits her 10-year-old son, Elias (Valentin Lelong), who is living with her father, Louis (Maurice Garrel), in Grenoble. Although engaged to be married, when she finds out that Louis is dying, Nora decides to ask ex-husband Ismael (Matthieu Amalric) to adopt Elias–whose own father died before he was born–so that Elias will not be alone if she dies. But Ismael is holed up in a mental hospital. The story cuts between Nora and Ismael and their past and present dilemmas as they try to put together a plan for the future.
