A computer genius, Emmy Coer (Francesca Faridany), devises software that allows her to communicate with a historical figure of the past. Her connection is with Ada Lovelace (Tilda Swinton)–a 19th-century mathematician who has been credited with writing the first computer program. Ada, the daughter of Lord Byron, was thwarted in her endeavors by the Victorian world's tenets dictating that women should stay home and raise children. Emmy plans to defeat death and give Ada a second chance in the modern-day world.
