After small-town pizza shop owner Longfellow Deeds (Adam Sandler) inherits a $40 billion media conglomerate, he heads for New York to do business. Once there, he finds himself the object of prey by greedy stockholders and becomes the subject for tabloid journalists–especially Babe Bennett (Winona Ryder) who poses as a school nurse to obtain information that will give her the scoop on Deeds. But, in the process, Babe ends up falling in love with Deeds who is equally smitten with her. This is an updated version of Frank Capra's award-winning 1936 classic, "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town."
