Dorr and his friends (Marlon Wayans, J.K. Simmons, Tzi Ma, and Ryan Hurst) plan to tunnel from Mrs. Munson's root cellar into a riverboat casino's vault. Pretending to be a classical music ensemble practicing in the basement, they play sacred music on a recorder to cover up noises from their tunneling. Odessa (Whoopi Goldberg) and her husband (Ving Rhames) have three children and she is a maid for the Thompsons (Sissy Spacek and Dwight Schultz), a well-to-do couple. Miriam Thompson becomes an activist for the cause while her husband goes the other direction. A good depiction of an important time in American history.
