As the train moves on, hopefully they will also forget differences of the past. But more discords arise on the journey to find spiritual enlightenment as they attempt self-medication on pain killers, pepper spray, and cough syrup. They get kicked off the train in the middle of the desert but continue on the trek for a surprise visit with their mother (Anjelica Huston) who has abandoned her family and now is a sister in a Himalayan convent.

Marie arrives at Versailles, marries the Dauphin, and enters into a world where she must produce an heir to gain security. But, Louis does not cooperate, and by the time she becomes queen, Marie Antoinette has alienated both royalty and the public. An Oscar was received for Best Costume Design.
