Terminally ill pianist Duncan Ely (Curt Jurgens), who is also a Satanist, grants an interview with up-and-coming pianist Myles Clarkson (Alan Alda). Duncan is impressed with Clarkson, and at the moment of his death, he transfers his soul to Clarkson. It isn't long before Clarkson's wife Paula (Jacqueline Bisset) notes the change in her husband. But that's not all. Paula eventually takes over the soul of Ely's daughter Roxanne (Barbara Parkins). The musical score provides an eerie background.
