Paid assassin Joe (Nicholas Cage) lives his life as a loner traveling around the world but remaining unattached to others. Joe is ready to retire but takes one last job when Surat (Nirattisai Kaljaruek) pays him to commit four murders in Thailand. While on this last job, Joe takes in a protege, Kong (Shahkrit Yamnam), with whom he does form an attachment. Joe also begins a romantic relationship with deaf-mute Fon (Charlie Yeung) and then begins to question his life as an assassin. But, as Joe becomes involved with Kong and Fon, he lets down his guard and becomes the target of Surat.

Sylvester Stallone is back in the role of traumatized Vietnam veteran John Rambo who is scraping out a living salvaging old PT boats and tanks for scrap metal. Rambo obliges and drops off the missionaries near the impoverished village. Two weeks later, Rambo learns that the missionaries were kidnapped, and now his military training pays off as he sets off to rescue them.
