  I saw this movie when I was still a kid and never forgot it. It seems to have dropped off the planet because I have never seen it offered up on TMC or AMC. I wonder if there are still copies around? If it can be bought, I will definitely be going for it.

  This is the greatest musical I have ever seen or directed. I have directed and sung in many, many musicials, and I still have a fondness and respect for "Oklahoma". It has everything; great dancing, humor, nice plot and semi plot, very nice orchestration, beautiful solos and ensemble singing and great scenery! RB

  Astronauts land on a newly discovered planet where apes rule, and humans are their servants. The space crew, led by George Taylor (Charlton Heston), trudges through a forest and finds a tribe that resembles Stone Age humans. Then, apes on horses appear clad in uniforms and start shooting, and the inarticulate, uncivilized humans scatter. The astronauts learn that the apes can walk upright and talk and are far more sophisticated that the humans. When the leader of the apes, Dr. Zaius (Maurice Evans), learns that Taylor can also talk, he orders him killed. Now, two apes–scientist Cornelius (Roddy McDowell) and Dr. Zira (Kim Hunter)–help Taylor escape and, in the process, Taylor uncovers the secret of the planet.

  This is one of the best early films of the science fiction genre. He steals Sheriff Copperude's (Carroll O'Connor) horse and makes love to Copperude's daughter Billee (Margaret Blye). Billee tells her father that she was raped, and they follow Cole to bring him to justice. They catch up with Cole, but then Foggers arrives and takes the gold. Later, a shootout ensues, and Billee finds where the gold is hidden. But, Cole also arrives, takes the gold and Billee's clothing, and rides off to Mexico.
