He also meets and marries Sissy (Debra Winger), but problems arise almost immediately when Bud believes that Sissy is seeing a mechanical bull-riding cowboy Wes (Scott Glenn). Sissy tells Bud that she wants him to prove he is a real cowboy, and when Mickey Gilley (himself) announces a bull-riding contest, Bill signs up hoping to win the contest and Sally as well. This is the film that made the mechanical bull so popular in bars.
