William Golding's novel about a group of boys trapped on an island and their subsequent struggle for survival is updated to the present. British school children are replaced by American military cadets who are aboard a plane that crashes into the sea. After swimming to a nearby island, they find their own methods of survival. Ralph (Balthazar Getty) leads one group and rationalizes a way to escape from the island. Meanwhile, Jack (Chris Furrh) and his followers resort to savage behavior as they hunt for pigs to eat and then turn to killing people. Living together proves impossible, and the boys end up fighting each other for survival.
