In this version, Heathcliff is now Roch (Lucas Belvaux) who sets tragedy in motion after the woman he loves, Catherine (Fabienne Babe), marries wealthy Olivier (Olivier Torres). Roch seeks revenge leading Catherine into despair and early death, but even death cannot part the ill-fated lovers.
