At the same time, while Grand Prix driver Pete Aron (James Garner) recovers from a crash at Monaco in which his teammate Scott Stoddard (Brian Bedford) was critically injured, Pete becomes involved with Scott's estranged wife, Pat (Jessica Walter). Adding more changes to his life, Pete begins to drive for the Japanese Yamura team. Racing footage is good with many shots taken inches from the track.

Meanwhile, Scotland yard detective John McLeod (Anthony Hopkins), whose family is aboard the ship, searches for the bomber. A good thriller.
