They meet a Mexican lawyer, Miguel Santos (Cesar Romero) and end up getting divorced by mistake. They decide to renew their vows, but Dan is called away on business, and his friend Ernie (Dean Martin) steps in to take care of Valerie. As luck would have it, that same lawyer Santos mistakenly marries Ernie and Valerie. Now, Valerie tries to use the marriage to get Dan back. It takes awhile, but by story's end, a wedding is being planned by Dan and Valerie.
