  Despite growing up as the daughter of conservative spending parents (Joan Cusack and John Goodman), Rebecca (Isla Fisher) loves shopping for clothes and has incurred over 10,000 dollars in credit card debt. She dreams of working for the elite fashion magazine, "Alette," but lands a job as an advice columnist for a finance company. Rebecca keeps her own financial problems a secret while her column becomes a great success. As her career soars, Rebecca finds it more and more difficult to hide her money troubles from her readers–and even more so from her boss Luke Brandon (Hugh Dancy) when romance blooms between them.

This leads to a bedtime story told in flashbacks beginning in 1992 about Will's subsequent affairs with Emily (Elizabeth Banks), then with Summer (Rachel Weisz), and finally with April (Isla Fisher). While telling the story, Will changes the real names of the women leaving Maya to guess which one is her mother.

  Dr. Seuss' 1954 book is brought to the screen with Jim Carrey as the voice of the cheerful elephant Horton who discovers the city of Whoville after a speck of dust containing what he is sure are living creatures blows past. Horton talks to the Mayor of Whoville (voice of Steve Carell) and agrees to help the residents. But, Kangaroo (voice of Carol Burnett) considers the Whos to be nothing more than Horton's hallucination and rounds up other jungle animals to teach Horton a lesson. Horton will not relent and tells the others, "a person is a person, no matter how small." Will the Whos speak up and be saved?

Now, Rod's stepfather Frank (Ian McShane) needs a heart transplant, and Rod decides to raise the money by jumping his moped over 15 buses. To accomplish his daredevil feat, Rod gathers together his crew–Denise (Isla Fisher), Kevin (Jorma Taccone), Dave (Bill Hader), and Rico (Danny R. McBride)–and sets his plan in motion.
