In this black-and-white, dream-like film, vampire hunter Dr. Van Helsing (Peter Fonda) has killed Count Dracula, and Dracula's daughter, Nadja (Elina Lowensohn), takes her father's ashes to Brooklyn where she visits her brother Edgar (Jared Harris). Edgar is ill and is being nursed by his live-in lover Cassandra (Suzy Amis). Meanwhile, Van Helsing is on Nadja's trail because he knows that if Dracula's ashes are not properly disposed of, he will come back to life. Van Helsing finds Nadja and kills her, but Nadja has now taken over Cassandra's body, and a new life begins for Nadja.
