  American brothers Jack (Jason Schwartzman), Francis (Owen Wilson), and Peter (Adrien Brody) have not spoken to each other since their father died one year ago. Now, Francis urges his brothers to join him on a train, the Darjeeling Limited, that will take them across India on their "spiritual quest." As the train moves on, hopefully they will also forget differences of the past. But more discords arise on the journey to find spiritual enlightenment as they attempt self-medication on pain killers, pepper spray, and cough syrup. They get kicked off the train in the middle of the desert but continue on the trek for a surprise visit with their mother (Anjelica Huston) who has abandoned her family and now is a sister in a Himalayan convent.

  This story centers on the courage of the pregnant wife, Mariane (Angelina Jolie), of "Wall Street Journal" reporter Daniel Pearl (Dan Futterman). In 2002, Daniel was kidnapped in Pakistan where he planned to interview an Islamic cleric with ties to the "shoe bomber" Richard Reid. Daniel was kidnapped, accused of being a spy for the CIA, and later killed. The focus is on the hunt for the kidnappers as a team of FBI agents, Pakistani investigators, and journalists assemble at Mariane's compound where they ask questions and wait for answers for five agonizing weeks.

After graduating from Yale, he even changes his name from Gogol to Nick and becomes involved with a WASP princess (Jacinda Barrett). But, a family tragedy convinces Nick to reconsider his decisions, and he sets off in a different direction with a new appreciation for his past.

Through flashbacks, Jamal's life story is told revealing how the hardships he has endured prepared him for the questions he has been presented on "Millionaire." The next day, Jamal appears on the show to answer the final question, and the world–including the Police Inspector–watches expectantly. The film won eight Academy Awards including Best Picture and Director and received two nominations.
