  I love this movie. The story is true as are the characters. It's hard to believe that this woman who was told she didn't qualify to be a missionary to China could accomplish such a mission. She was truly a great woman. Considered an ugly duckling by some, she still manages to find love with a Eurasian soldier.

While it's unusual to say this about Rossellini and Bergman, if you really want to see it, take the shorter one–you won't have to suffer as long.

  This is a clever film made up of a trio of stories linking together subsequent owners of a particular yellow Rolls-Royce Phantom II. Lord Frenton (Rex Harrison) buys the Rolls as an anniversary gift for his wife (Jeanne Moreau) who is later caught in the back seat with John Fane (Edmund Purdom). Later, in the 1930s, gangster Paolo Maltese (George C. Scott) buys the Rolls and tours Italy with hat-check girl Mae Jenkins (Shirley MacLaine). Like her predecessor, Mae also tries out the back seat–she finds "love" with a photographer (Alain Delon) while Paolo is in the U.S. on business. By World War II, socialite Gerda Millett (Ingrid Bergman) owns the car and fights the Nazis by smuggling Davich (Omar Sharif) across the border. In the process, this couple also finds pleasures in the back seat of the Rolls-Royce Phantom II.
