This sequel to "Room at the Top" takes place 10 years later as Joe (Laurence Harvey) finds that marrying Susan (Jean Simmons), who is the daughter of the boss (Donald Wolfit), presents problems of which he never dreamed. Joe rises to power in the company and in politics. He is elected to a seat on the town council where he votes for a slum clearance, which is against company interests. His marriage falls apart, and both Joe and Susan engage in separate love affairs. The marriage appears to be over, or is it? Followed by "Man at the Top."
