Director: Arnaud Desplechin Cast: Summer Phoenix, Ian Holm, Fabrice Desplechin, Frances Barber, Ian Bartholomew, Emmanuelle Devos, Akbar Kurtha, Anton Lesser, Kika Markham, Paul Regan, Laszlo Szabo
This is an interesting portrait of a late 19th-century actress, Esther Kahn (Summer Phoenix), who was born into a large Jewish immigrant family and raised on the streets of London. Her one interest was the theater, where she could escape life's realities. A good depiction of the acting profession.
