  I loved it. Probably a little campy but one of those 'Feel Good" movies that makes you glad that you watched it. AND the music was great!

When Caesar is killed in the Roman Senate, Cleopatra seduces Roman general Marc Antony planning to make him her protector. But, Marc Antony is defeated at the Battle of Actium, and the doomed lovers meet for the last time. The film won four Oscars (Best Cinematography, Art Direction, Costume, and Special Visual Effects) and had five nominations including Best Picture and Actor (Harrison).

The "old folks" are terrific, especially Don Ameche who won an Oscar for his performance.

When the ghost of Hamlet's father returns, he tells Hamlet that Claudius murdered him and demands that Hamlet seek revenge. Hamlet fakes madness to avoid suspicion, and before it is over, not only Claudius, but Gertrude, Hamlet's chief counselor Polonius (Hume Cronyn) and Polonius' daughter Ophelia (Linda Marsh)–who loves Hamlet– and Hamlet all lie dead. John Gielgud directed the Broadway production (and was also the voice of the Ghost); Bill Colleran directed the filming, using 15 cameras to catch all of the action.

  This remake of the 1925 movie is the first talkie version of this story. Claude Rains does a good job as the masked Phantom who comes up from the sewers under the Paris Opera House to coach singer Christine (Susanna Foster). He terrorizes the singers and even drugs and strangles the lead singer (Jane Farrar) to ensure that Christine will be given the lead. When Christine fails to appear on the stage, the Phantom causes a giant chandelier to crash on the audience. Now, the Phantom kidnaps Christine who does manage to remove his mask. More terror ensues during the dark chase beneath the opera house to rescue Christine.

  Cora (Lana Turner) falls for drifter Frank Chambers (John Garfield) who her husband Nick (Cecil Kellaway) has hired to work as a handyman at his gas station/diner. If Frank and Cora are to live "happily ever after," they need money. Their solution: murder Nick and collect on his insurance. They try to kill Nick. But, they fail, and now District Attorney Kyle Sackett (Leon Ames) is determined to get to the bottom of what really went on the night Nick was "accidentally"–but not fatally– electrocuted in his bathtub.
