Antonio "Nino" Dadalamenti (Alberto Sordi) takes two weeks off from his job at an automobile factory. He is ready to set off with his fair-haired wife Martha (Norma Bengell) and their daughters (Cinzia Bruno and Katiusca Piretti) on a visit to his Sicilian hometown of Calamo. Just before they leave, Nino's boss, Dr. Zanchi (Armando Tine), asks him to deliver a package to Calamo mob boss Don Vincenzo (Ugo Attanasio). The family arrives in Calamo where Martha, because of her blond hair, is not greeted warmly. Nino delivers the package to Don Vincenzo who, in turn, asks Nino to do him a favor of carrying out a hit–and Nino realizes that this is a request that he will not be allowed to refuse. Now the visit really turns sour.
