The Lost Patrol 1934 N/R, 74 min. Genre: Adventure / Drama
Director: John Ford Cast: Victor McLaglen, Boris Karloff, Wallace Ford, Reginald Denny, Alan Hale, J.M. Kerrigan, Billy Bevan, Brandon Hurst, Douglas Walton, Sammy Stein, Howard Wilson, Neville Clark, Paul Hanson, Francis Ford, Frank(1) Baker
In this film adaptation of Philip MacDonald's novel, the story involves a British patrol stranded in the Mesopotamia Desert during World War I. The men are trying, with great difficulty, to fend off Arab enemy forces when their commanding officer is killed. A sergeant (Victor McLaglen) takes over, but the patrol has no knowledge of its location–or even its mission–when they start their trek across the desert. They stumble onto an oasis where they hope to find rest, but snipers begin to pick off the men, and the religious ranting of Sanders (Boris Karloff) fills their ears. Finally, only two men remain alive–Sergeant Morelli (Wallace Ford) and Sanders–and the desperate fight for survival continues. Another John Ford masterpiece with interesting characters.
