The characters are quite interesting and well-developed as Planet Mongo is on a collision course with Earth. So, Flash Gordon (Buster Crabbe) and friends, including his companion Dale (Jean Rogers) blast off to see what's going on out there. Mongo turns out to be ruled by Ming the Merciless (Charles Middleton) who has all sorts of creatures ready to do his dirty work as he carries out his plan for Earth.
