Set in 1950s West Germany, this film is based on the famous unsolved murder of "high-class" prostitute Rosemarie Nitribitt (Nina Hoss). She had a clientele of rich men, and lived with one. The downfall started when a wealthy Frenchmen, Fribert (Mathieu Carriere), came to town with a deal for her: tape her encounters with the rich and famous clients and then, for a price, turn them over to Fribert for use in blackmail schemes.
