  Bank cashier Lafe Kildare (Hooper Atchley) has been stealing from the bank, and when the bank president Jim Fremont (Edward Hearn) begins to suspect Lafe, Lafe kills Jim and becomes the bank president. Jim's brother Curt (Hoot Gibson) arrives in town posing as a cowardly drifter to investigate his brother's murder. He does his investigating at night, posing as Mexican bandit El Capitan in order to solve the murder, which he does, bringing Lafe to justice. Meanwhile, he wins the affections of a rancher's daughter, Mary Lou Moran (Sally Eilers–Hoot Gibson's wife at the time).

But Special Agent Rex Bennett (Rod Cameron) and his team members British Secret Service Agent Vivian Marsh (Constance Worth) and Chinese Agent Chang Sing (Roland Got) thwart the Japanese plans in each episode. Plenty of action.

This story grew out of rumors involving a hotel guest's death during the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago.

  Gem collector Brendan Edwards (Morgan Wallace) possesses the "Eye of the Daughter of the Moon," which is the largest star sapphire in the world. He calls in Mr. Wong (Boris Karloff) for help, and, during a game of charades, Edwards is shot dead, and the star sapphire disappears. Mr. Wong and Inspector Sam Street (Grant Withers) sort out the evidence, expose the killer, and Mr. Wong returns the gem to China.
