  Captain Nemo (James Mason) and his submarine, Nautilus, fill the screen with the adventures imagined by Jules Verne in his classic novel. Many whaling ships have been lost at sea when Professor Pierre Aronnax (Paul Lukas), his aide Conseil (Peter Lorre), and harpoon master Ned Land (Kirk Douglas) voyage out in search of the sea monster that is supposedly sinking the ships. Their ship sinks, but they survive and are taken aboard Nautilus. They discover that the sea monster is actually the Nautilus, and they are amazed by the undersea world that greets them. Highlight: Kirk Douglas singing "A Whale of a Tale." The film won Oscars for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration and Best Special Effects and was nominated for Best Film Editing.

Lots of other little animals fill the screen in this delightful animated film adaptation of the popular children's book by E.B. White.

  When defense lawyer Martin Strang (Milburn Stone) suspects that his wife Lucille (Katherine DeMille) is having an affair with court psychiatrist Dr. James Anderson (Paul Guilfoyle), he plots to have her killed. First, he writes a will giving his money to the families who have been hurt by the criminals he defended. Then, he defends William Jackson (Paul Guilfoyle) on a murder charge, wins his freedom, but then is murdered by Jackson. His plan has backfired, but evidence points to Lucile and Dr. Anderson as the murderers. When they are arrested, Anderson kills himself. That act leaves Lucille–who has been left destitute by Martin's will–all alone in the world.

Songs include "White Christmas," "Sisters," and "Blue Skies"–and "Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep" was nominated for an Oscar for Best Song.
