They conceive a baby hoping that it will provide a donor for Kate. Anna is born and is a perfect match. For years, bone marrow is taken from Anna to keep Kate alive, and now her kidney is needed as a transplant for Kate. Eleven-year-old Anna has endured a myriad of physical procedures during her young life, and she finally says, "No." Now, Anna hires a lawyer, Campbell Alexander (Alec Baldwin), to fight for her "medical emancipation."

  I was completely caught up in this romance novel, such, that I had to look for it online. I never got to see the beginning and definitely loved how you go back and forth from the 1940s to the present.
