This story revolves around the final 36 hours in the life of Maury Dann (Rip Torn) who is one of the top names in country and western music. Living life to the fullest–drinking too much, taking pills, and sleeping with a variety of women–Maury goes from one beer-soaked honky tonk to another, performing one-night stands. Maury deceives everyone he encounters, an action that will inevitably lead to his downfall.
