In this sequel to the "French Connection," Popeye Doyle (Gene Hackman) is still tracking down drug dealer Frog One (Fernando Rey). This time around, Popeye travels to Marseilles where he becomes a victim when he is captured by Frog One's henchmen and forced to take heroin. They then dump him at a police station where he quits the heroin by the "Cold Turkey" method, recovers, and is back on the job tracking down the drug dealers.

Fonda was Vadim's wife at the time.
