  The time is set in the future, and robots have replaced many humans to perform menial labors. He immediately comes across a case of a handicapped young man who is found guilty of murder. But, on investigation, he finds out that the man was beaten into the confession by the police, and witnesses were beaten into providing the "correct" testimony. Because of this and other similar cases, he is targeted by the police for harassment. The corruption appears to go all the way up to the mayor's office.
