New York Times correspondent Sydney Schanberg (Sam Waterston) is covering the civil war in Cambodia when his friend and translator Dith Pran (Haing S. Ngor) is captured. Schanberg does everything in his power to find Dith in this excellent presentation that shows the tragedies of Cambodia and man's inhumanity to man. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture, and Ngor won for Best Supporting Actor.
