In this spoof on heist films, millionaire Clyde Massey (Trevor Howard) hires a dealer in diamonds, Howard R. Chesser (Charles Grodin), to rob a London diamond exchange owned by Meecham (John Gielgud). Chesser, his girlfriend Maren Shirell (Candice Bergen), and Charles D. Watts (James Mason) suck the diamonds through the wiring system and perform a successful heist. When Massey, who wants the diamonds for himself, sends his henchmen to retrieve the diamonds, a chase ensues, but the robbers manage to escape.

An army of 4,000 Zulu warriors in South Africa during the 19th century lay siege on a British garrison at Rorke's Drift. He orders his troops to fight the warriors–despite his second-in-command Lt. Gonville Bromhead (Michael Caine) arguing that they should abandon the military post. A great battle scene takes up much of the second half of the movie.
