While the plot involves Elwood leading cops and Russian mobsters on a merry chase, this film works as a tribute to the blues.

This over-long, coming-of-age, soapy film follows an Atlanta family through love and tragedy. Sisters Tilden and Elizabeth (Alison Pill and Tamara Hope) live with their single mother (Elizabeth Perkins). The girls' lives change drastically when Mama announces that she is going to marry a man, Nick (Scott Bakula), whom they had not met. This doesn't go over well with the girls, especially Tilden, but that becomes less important when Mama finds out she has cancer.
